Storm on the way!
We took a walk on the beach this morning. There is a tropical depression/storm on the way toward Southwest Florida. The water was already pretty churned up with some larger than normal waves. The cool factor for me was seeing some Magnificent Frigatebirds. Earlier this morning, I told my husband that I would love to see a Black Skimmer skimming the water for fish. (This was after seeing a picture of one in the local paper!) Then, we get to the beach and see a couple of Magnificent Frigatebirds skimming the water for fish! I could hardly believe my good luck!
There are lots of turtle nests on the beach. I hope the coming storm doesn't wipe them out!
This Magnificent Frigatebird skimmed the water and caught a fish. This type of bird is usually around 3 feet in length with a wingspan of 7 to 8 feet! You can't miss them in the sky, for sure!
Ah . . . success!!
These two had a bit of a disagreement over something. I almost missed the shot.
This Yellow-Crowned Night Heron tried to sneak past me, but I was faster than he was!
When we returned home, there was a Magnificent Frigatebird and this Swallow-Tailed Kite flying overhead. They were fairly high in the air. I can't pass up any photo of a Swallow-Tailed Kite, though.
