Another great day at the Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge! November 14, 2015 Beverly Henson There was a good low tide today and an abundance of birds to photograph. Found a couple of gators, also! I love to see the Roseate Spoonbill birds. The pink really stands out! Ibis coming in for a landing! The Reddish Egret is such a funny bird. It has a goofy dance it does to create shadows on the shallow water so it can see the fish and spear them. Lots of fun to watch! Little Blue Heron on the hunt! Not a great pic because it is too far away. However, there are 5 different types of birds in one small space. So cool! The Great Blue Heron is my second favorite bird after the Roseate Spoonbill. I wish I had been closer to this Roseate Spoonbill, but it is still probably closer than I've even been to one. I had to look closely to figure out that this is a very plump White Pelican. He was really too far away to photograph, but this is the first one we've seen this season. So, I had to post it! This Ibis had a successful shrimp catch! Oh yeah, I'm big and bad!! These Cormorants were just hanging out all by themselves. This little guy was being shy, but held still long enough for a few people to get pics. This looks like the big gator we saw a couple of weeks ago. Resting in the sun, again! He was asleep when we first stopped to take his pic, but he soon woke up to keep an eye on us. He just looks so prehistoric and evil!
