Wild on Sanibel

First day of Spring 2016

We drove through the refuge this morning, not expecting to get any great photos.  The tide was not very low and the sky was overcast.  The no-see-ums were so extreme that we could see swarms of them getting back into the car with us!  Needless to say, we didn't stand in one place very long!  Afterwards, we stopped at our favorite spot on the beach.  The no-see-ums found us there, too!

Mmmm - breakfast shrimp!

This Cormorant seemed to be having a successful dive for breakfast.

Then the Cormorant did his best Flintstone imitation as he took off!

This Reddish Egret posed very nicely for me!

Love getting to see a Great Blue Heron!

I think this can be described as the "south end" of a "north bound" bird!

This is me on a "bad hair day"!

I am pretty . . . oh, so pretty!!

And then a quick stop by the beach!  Quick, because the no-see-ums ran us off!

A great day for a man and his dog to go fishing!

How cool is this VW van, complete with a skate board and the old hard-side luggage on top!  It was in pristine condition.

Then, back home to find this guy building a nest by our front door.  Needless to say, it turned out not to be a good place for him to build!

I took the next couple of photos of the male osprey a couple of days ago on a much clearer day!
